this was my first ever power song.

yeah, it came out when i was 12— and yeah, it was inappropriate as Hell at that age. it’s not even like i was a sexual person back then— i was too damaged to be interested in sex, but this song struck all the things i needed to hear and see at that age

a woman of color owning her sexuality

instructing others how to pleasure her

this was revolutionary.  this was radical and transformative to that little girl who had been sexualized against her will at too young an age, who had no idea it was possible to claim sexuality as her own.

it also helped that this song gave me the opportunity to be raunchy and crude and shock the hell out of my peers, who couldn’t fathom a woman wanting and demanding oral sex.  

“you might roll dubs, you might have cheeze but fuck that, playa get on yo knees” is really all I have to say about this.
